HOW CYBERKNIFE WORKS
- Accurate, safe and painless
- Fewer treatments 1 to 5 days only
- Comfortable, awake, relaxed - ready for normal activity
At FROS Radiation Oncology Cyberknife Center, our physicians have treated more than 1,500 patients with the Cyberknife.
With sub-millimeter accuracy, the CyberKnife® Radiosurgery System safely delivers precisely targeted radiation beams to cancerous and non-cancerous tumors. CyberKnife can treat a tumor virtually anywhere in the body thanks to its pinpoint precision and accuracy. It is a safe, painless outpatient procedure that doesn't carry the risks and complications associated with conventional surgery.
The CyberKnife system locates the tumor in your body using sophisticated imaging technology. Your doctor then utilizes CyberKnife computer technology to evaluate the unique shape and location of your tumor and determine how to target it with up to 1,200 radiation beams.
During treatment, CyberKnife accurately delivers the very concentrated beams to your tumor from multiple positions and angles while continually checking and correcting for any body movement, including breathing during treatment. Its precision leaves your healthy surrounding tissue unharmed. The result is a painless procedure with minimal side effects and virtually no recovery time. You are awake and relaxed through your entire treatment session, which takes anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. Afterward, you are free to leave and resume normal daily activities.
At FROS Radiation Oncology Cyberknife Center, our team is committed to bringing leading-edge technology with highly compassionate care to our patients.
